A gripping film about New York in the period after 9/11. At the time Kooijmans lived in New York and from his apartment he saw the Twin Towers collapse. This experience had a profound personal impact. His American Dream instantly turned into a nightmare. New York changed, the world changed and Kooijmans’ documentary about moustaches changed. As a result, New York is Eating Me & The Cactus Dance has become a film about the sudden loss of reality, reality the way it used to be. Either way, we need to recover ourselves.
